We are excited to be able to host groups and hire out our community space at The Old Chemist. It is a lovely Edwardian shop-front in the triangle in Bitterne Park alongside other shops and cafes. There is easy bus travel to the door and parking in side roads within easy walking distance. We have a number of spaces available for hire for a variety of needs, including a light and airy main community space with comfortable seating, AV equipment, tables and chairs for meetings, workshops or table-top sales. The space is perfect for evening or daytime parties, with use of the well-equipped kitchen. Our Lounge has wonderful views over Riverside Park towards St Denys and can accommodate private meetings or groups.
We use Hallmaster to manage booking requests and the range of hirers through the week. If you are interested in using The Old Chemist there are descriptions of the different spaces available to hire below. To get started with a request (not a secured booking until we have responded to confirm the date, price and arrangements) please check the online calendar first. Then to make a booking request from the scheduler, click on the + symbol on the date and room you wish to book. If you are making a booking request for the first time, you will be asked to enter your contact details and a password so that you can track your booking, much in the same way you would with an online shopping website. Community Space
Our newly renovated community space is a warm and welcoming place for you to hire for a wide range of activities. With underfloor heating, ambient and full lighting, hardwearing hygienic flooring, a range of comfortable seating options and a well equipped kitchen, it can cater for up to 60 people.

Lounge
This new space created during our recent renovations is relaxed, warm and flooded with natural light. Suitable for up to 12 people for small meetings, groups or therapy, there are comfortable chairs, soft lighting and soft furnishings. The room is also adaptable for more formal gatherings with all appropriate equipment available.
Kitchenette with kettle, filter coffee machine, jugs, cups, glasses and side plates.
Tea bags, instant coffee and sugar are provided for this meeting room only. Please bring your own milk and ground coffee if you wish to use the coffee machine.

Quiet Room
Our Quiet room is a relaxed small room equipped with two sofas and coffee table, two additional chairs and soft lighting. With an expansive window overlooking Cobden Bridge and Riverside Park, this a lovely space for small meetings, therapy or small groups of up to six people.
There is access to basic drink-making facilities but you will need to provide your own supplies.

Price – £9 per hour (minimum 1 hour)
